A big thanks to everyone who came down to our “Free Seamus Heaney!” evening and being part of World Book Night. The turn-out was much larger than we could ever have anticipated. The firm is now 40-strong and a match for anyone. There will be other events soon, including the next night out and also
On Saturday 5th March 2011, and as part of World Book Night, The Birmingham Poetry Ultras will be hosting a very special evening of Poetry Appreciation, Discussion and Socialising at The Old Moseley Arms, Balsall Heath, Birmingham. Entrance to the event is free and we will be getting under way at 8pm. All are welcome.
Today the Ultras visited Birmingham city centre to soak up the atmosphere of the Chinese New Year celebrations. We wanted to look at how poetry was linked to the festivities. We were also hoping for a right good tear up. Here’s the video:
